01/23 – Detox program – Week 2 – Getting Prepped

I saw Val this past Sunday as we headed into week 2.  I proudly showed her my tinctures that I had purchased for the week.  I chose 2 from the list that Tiffany provided.  I chose a Healthy Liver Tincture, which that word “tincture” I can’t wrap my mouth around if I wanted to.  Way easier to write, but I digress.  Tincture 2 was Pau d’arco.  It is supposed to be a good anti-inflammatory and a whole bunch of other goodness for you.  Rest assured that I didn’t choose it for its ability to treat inflammation of the prostate gland.    I liked its more general anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious properties.

Val shockingly told me that she was planning on repeating week 1.  I was pretty sure that I felt a chill in the air…repeat week 1???  She felt that she hadn’t had the ability to read up on week 1 or really do what she needed to.  I commended her for moving forward with the Satan’s brew for anther week.  It was one of the things that I was looking forward to being done with in the detox program.

What I wasn’t looking forward to was limiting wheat.

01/23 – Detox program – Week 1 – Days 4-7

Things pretty much remained the status quo for the rest of week one.  Consume Satan’s brew first thing in the morning and spend the rest of my day trying to drink half my body weight in water.  Oh and then there was trying so VERY VERY hard to avoid refined sugar.

I also read ahead to what was in store for week 2.  Oh heck no way – limit wheat and dairy.  I added a new goal to week 1 after reading this.  Eat as much wheat as possible.  The dairy was already a long lost friend who I haven’t really seen aside from a faint memory and a hint of the scent on the air.   At least now my “bread to my butter” saying was completely shot to hell.   Perhaps we need to start saying You’re the rice to my sushi? 01/19 – Detox – Day 2 learnings

Ok after I've sort of gotten used to the water logged feeling of day 1.  I learned a few good things in day 2.

1. When taking the short version of Satan's brew, do drink a large glass of room temperature water.

2. Under absolutely NO circumstances take the Satan's brew after brusing your teeth.

3.  Do not waste any time drinking anything that isn't water as it doesn't count towards your water intake.  How's that for a kick in the pants?  So I'm now pretty much focused on water only.  No more juice for me.

4.  Have water bottles available everywhere; in my car, at my desk, near my bed, etc.  This helps me get my allotment.  Ok so I've been successful for 2 days of getting my necessary dousing of water.  I consider that a small victory and necessary of celebrating.  YAY ME!

No noticible changes yet on how I feel yet.  However I have very high hopes as I know many who have followed Tiffany's program and felt really good and started to understand their true energy levels.

Satan's brew (Friend's name for lemon beverage) = lemon juice, organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar, pinch of cayenne and warm water.  The quick version is just the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar.  It is to be taken in the morning at least 30 minutes before eating.

Cutting out the caffeine and alcohol has been pretty simple as I don't really drink either in the first place.  Limiting sugar seems to be the biggest challenge this week.  I'll keep trying.

01/18 – Detox – Day 1 Learnings

Ok after one day of drinking what my friend calls the Satan's brew and trying to drink my weight in water, I've learned that I would be an excellent candidate to act in one of those medical commercials.

"Do you frequently have to visit the bathroom?"

"Do you feel the urge to pee even 5 minutes after just going?"

"You may be experiencing the affects of a detox program. If you or any of your family members have experienced these symptoms, call 1-800-WATRLOG.  The professionalist at our facility are trained to help your every need and symptom.  Your life doesn't need to be ruled by the detox program. Get help now by calling 1-800-WATRLOG."

Holy crow, I seriously thought I had some issues.  If I wasn't running to the bathroom every 5 minutes, I sounded like one of those old fashioned water beds.  You know the sound I'm talking about. That wooshing, sloshing, gurgling.  Yep that was me.

I don't think the human stomach is supposed to hold that much fluid.

On to Day 2.

01/17 – Detox program – Week 1

By the title of this post, I’m guessing many of you are thinking one of two things.  1.Ah the New Year’s resolution or 2. I didn’t know Michelle had a drug issue.  To answer 1, no this isn’t a New Year’s resolution.  I’m sort of against those in principle.  If wanting to make a change, I make the change.  If I have anything close to a New Year’s resolution it is to floss.  I know not that sexy or elaborate. However, as we all know flossing is very important.  I’ve not really done it until the week before the dentist appointment.  I have a dislike of flossing.  Sometime in December though, I thought really what is so bad about flossing other than the feeling of slowly cutting your teeth out with a semi waxed piece of string?  Nothing, so I’m giving it a go.  30 day’s later and it still feels terrible.  I’m sure my dentist will be pleased though.

Which brings me to #2.  No I don’t have a drug problem either.  Unless you consider half the foods that I eat as drugs.  Which is really why I’m doing this.   Continue Reading »
