Donations
Hello -
Since becoming passionately involved in open water marathon swimming, I have found that I can make a difference in the lives of others by swimming. Through the creation of MacySwim for a Cure, I’m able to use my swimming for personal enjoyment but also to donate to the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota earmarked for Breast Cancer research. This cause has always been of importance to me because it is a way for me to honor my family and friends who are and have been courageous in their fight against breast cancer. In the past, my grandma and my aunts fought the disease, resulting in 2 wins and 1 loss. Most recently my mother beat her battle with breast cancer. Unfortunately due to an unexpected event, I lost my mother way too soon. However, she was so involved in my goal to raise $50,000 for breast cancer research that I believe by continuing my swimming and my fundraising she is with me every step of the way. And I know with help of people like you, we can reach this goal.
The Masonic Cancer Center is 1 of 39 recognized research institutes by the National Cancer Institute. Led by Dr. Douglas Yee, the Masonic Cancer Center is committed to improving the lives of those fighting cancer as well as the lives of their family members. To learn more about the center, please check out their website www.cancer.umn.edu . With your contributions, we will continue to make a difference.
If you wish to make a cash contribution to the Masonic Cancer Center, I am honored. If not, please continue to send me your love and support in other ways. All are invaluable to me.
Much love,
Michelle

From a fellow Channel swimmer- good luck! I’d love to network on some of the fundraising stuff. We raised a bunch before my first swim, but our teams did ten times better the second time. Alas…if I had no kids, and a normal job…I might have a chance to swim like you do. Instead, i will just donate and watch you do the tough part

My dear Michelle–I don’t think you should ever feel that you let anyone down. Most anyone reading this knows that they would never be able to accomplish what you have done. You are a phenomenal woman-loved and admired by many. Whether you swim and single, double or tripple you have done something that most of us will never do. I knew in my heart that this could be a tough swim for you–but swim you did and made another channel crossing. IAM SO PROUD OF YOU no matter what!! YOU RAH-RAH-RAH-YOU RAH RAH RAH-GO MICHELLE
